For the TMC2208, I was only able to compile it using them in "standalone mode" since the pins needed to allow serial communications with the Re-ARM are not defined in the pins_RAMPS_RE_ARM.h file. I don't think that is an oversight or error, but probably due to the missing I/O's on the Re-ARM vs the Arduino Mega.
